4-H and FFA beef weigh-in is Dec. 14

Proof that summer will return…

Next July seems like a very long time from now, but Greene County 4-H and FFA members are reminded that next Sunday, Dec. 14, is the day to weigh-in the market beef they will show at the Greene County Fair next summer.

The Greene County 4-H and FFA beef weigh-in is scheduled for Sunday, Dec. 14, from 1 to 4 pm at the Greene County Fairgrounds in Jefferson.  All market beef to be exhibited at the 2015 Greene County Fair are required to be weighed and tagged during this time, with complete identification forms turned in.  Youngsters who plan to weigh-in market beef for Ak-Sar-Ben need to contact the Extension office ahead of time.

Members or parents who cannot attend may send their animals with another parent/exhibitor. Only Ak-Sar-Ben beef exhibitors and parents will need to sign a waiver if the exhibitor and/or the parent is not able to attend weigh-in. Waivers may be picked up at the Extension office during normal business hours, Monday through Friday, 8 am to 4:30 pm.

Once weigh-in is complete, the information will be recorded into the 4-H Online database for each animal. ALL exhibitors/families will need to go to their online profile at www.4honline.com to verify that the information is correct by Feb. 1. If information is not verified by that date, it stands as entered. 4-H Online help sheets will be available at weigh-in and are always available at the Extension office.

For more information about the beef weigh-in, please contact Sarah Jo Reynolds, county youth and 4-H coordinator, or Laura Ballard, office assistant, at the Greene County Extension office by phone at 515-386-2138.
